Two UW Players Named All-Conference

Seattle, WA -- Co-Captains Danielle Flanagan (#4) and Elizabeth "Lizzy" Lipps (#13) have been named to the 2015 2nd Team All-Northwest Conference.

The awards came as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) announced the selection of 211 student-athletes to the 2015 Women's National Collegiate Club All-Conference teams.

According to the CWPA, the selections were comprised of 106 First Team and 105 Second Team selections. The league's women's collegiate club All-Conference selection process begins with each of the league's programs nominating and selecting the "best-of-the-best" in their division from the 2015 campaign. The first team selections from each division advance to the National Collegiate Club All-America ballot.

As the team's primary center, Danielle Flanagan, led the Huskies in ejections earned averaging four a game as well as in goals, scoring 62 for the year. The Junior also finished the season with 23 field blocks and 14 steals.

Lizzy Lipps was Flanagan's counterpart on the defensive side of the ball. As the team's primary 2-meter defender, The sophmore, Lipps, averaged 2 blocks a game and was key in shutting down opposing offenses in the center position.

The unmeasurable aspects of both players are their leadership skills as they have been instrumental in guiding The Huskies to become a much better, cohesive unit that is becoming highly competitive.

Coincidentally both players grew up together. Flanagan and Lipps hail from Menlo Park, CA and played together at Menlo Atherton high school. Both players will be returning for the 2016 season with their focus on the Northwest Conference Championship.
